About the position

The Senior Coder is responsible for coding and abstracting various patient types using the 3M 360 Epass program in conjunction with EPIC. This remote position requires thorough documentation review and collaboration with providers to ensure accurate coding and compliance. The role also involves mentoring new associates and maintaining productivity and accuracy goals.

Responsibilities

• Thoroughly reviews provider documentation and assigns ICD 10, ICD 10 PCS, and/or CPT codes to assigned patient types.
• Accurately abstracts records for required data elements for research, billing, and reimbursement.
• Knowledge of APR DRG, MS DRG, or APC grouping classification systems.
• Ensures accurate SOI, ROM, HCC assignment.
• Writes compliant and effective queries as needed.
• Assigns charge codes to certain revenue codes.
• Assists with training/mentoring new associates as needed.
• Achieves all responsibilities while maintaining established productivity and accuracy goals.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma required.
• New graduates from HIM technical colleges with RHIT will be considered and trained.

Nice-to-haves

• Associates Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management or related healthcare field preferred.
• 3-5 years of experience at a tertiary teaching acute care hospital preferred.
• RHIT, CPC, or RN certification preferred.
