About the position

The Senior Colleague Programmer at Dean College is responsible for overseeing and programming for Ellucian Colleague, collaborating with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement innovative software solutions tailored to the College's needs. This full-time position requires extensive experience in software development, strong analytical skills, and a proven track record of delivering high-quality code within specified timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, scoping, and execution of projects, working closely with project stakeholders to define requirements and deliverables.
  • Develop project timelines, milestones, and resource allocation plans to ensure timely and successful project completion.
  • Design, code, test and debug complex software applications, leveraging best practices and coding standards.
  • Collaborate with team members to architect callable and maintainable solutions that meet project requirements.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies as it relates to Colleague.
  • Work closely with the Associate Vice President of Technology and other campus partners to gather requirements and solicit feedback on project initiatives, and communicate status, risks, and issues to key stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation, implementing software that streamlines job functions while increasing job productivity.
  • Other duties as assigned and required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field required, Master's degree in computer science or related field preferred.
  • More than 10 years of software development experience, specializing in enterprise systems, with expertise in web applications preferred.
  • Expertise in programming with Ellucian Colleague and Informer is required.
  • Proficiency in additional programming languages, such as Java, with a preferred working knowledge of Slate.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and keen attention to detail, with the ability to evaluate complex technical issues and propose effective solutions.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality software solutions within specified timelines and budget.
