About the position

The Senior Commercial Lines Product Analyst at Encova Insurance is responsible for overseeing the performance of the commercial portfolio, developing insights and recommendations to drive profitable growth across various lines, industries, and market segments. This role involves extracting and analyzing data to identify profit and loss drivers, as well as growth opportunities, and requires collaboration with product management teams and field leadership to implement action plans effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the performance of the commercial portfolio and develop insights to drive profitable growth.
  • Extract and analyze data to determine profit and loss drivers and identify growth opportunities.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of profitability and product profiles by different rating and underwriting variables.
  • Establish a systematic approach to line of business and industry analysis, providing key observations to management teams.
  • Create recommendations to address loss drivers and growth opportunities, partnering with other departments for implementation.
  • Measure execution of key initiatives and report status to senior leadership.
  • Develop comprehensive proposals for review by peers and upper management, and present these proposals to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with product analytics and actuarial teams to share observations and reduce duplication of effort.
  • Utilize Excel to build pivot tables, analyze data, and create visual summaries of analyses.
  • Use tools like Tableau and SAS for data analysis and to supplement information from product analytics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a technical and analytical field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of Commercial Lines multi-line experience.
  • Previous Product Management experience is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of actuarial and pricing concepts.
  • Project management skills and superior communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Strong mathematical aptitude and analytical skills, with experience in quantitative analysis and critical thinking.
  • Advanced experience using Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Working knowledge of Tableau, SAS, or other data analysis tools.
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional teams in product and pricing decisions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Insurance designation(s) such as CPCU, ARM, AU, etc. or progress towards is preferred.
