About the position

The Senior Commercial Loan Officer Assistant plays a vital role in the commercial lending process by working closely with Commercial Relationship Managers (CRM) to support both new and existing customers. This position is essential in facilitating the credit process in collaboration with Commercial Loan Closers. The Commercial Loan Officer Assistant is responsible for a variety of tasks that ensure the smooth operation of loan production and customer service within the commercial banking environment. In this role, the assistant will provide both sales and administrative support to the CRM and other partners. This includes collecting, ordering, and tracking necessary information for accurate risk assessment and underwriting, such as UCC searches, appraisals, environmental assessments, and various organizational documents. The assistant will also prepare written communications on behalf of the CRM, including commitment letters and term sheets, and will engage with the Commercial Loan Closer to confirm agreement with final approval documents. The position requires a proactive approach to monitoring reporting and identifying actions that need to be taken, such as managing maturities and insurance requirements. The assistant will also be responsible for collecting customer financial statements and collaborating with various stakeholders during loan closings. Additionally, the role involves mentoring and training other Loan Officer Assistants, participating in compliance training, and adhering to corporate policies and procedures. Responsibilities

  • Provide sales and administrative assistance to Commercial Relationship Managers (CRM) and other partners.
  • Support new and renewed loan production by collecting, ordering, and tracking information required for accurate risk assessment and underwriting.
  • Prepare written communication on behalf of the CRM, including commitment letters, term sheets, and thank you notes.
  • Complete the Credit Lens Loan Worksheet and confirm agreement with final approval documents to engage the Commercial Loan Closer.
  • Monitor reporting and identify where action needs to be taken, including maturities and insurance requirements.
  • Collect customer financial statements in a timely manner and load them to Credit Lens.
  • Collaborate with CRM, Commercial Loan Closer, Underwriter, Doc Prep, and/or outside counsel on loan closings.
  • Submit customer maintenance requests to Loan Operations for completion.
  • Facilitate ongoing disbursement requests and coordinate with Construction Administration.
  • Complete assigned Post-Close tasks in Credit Lens and manage WIP files.
  • Resolve critical and material exceptions as assigned.
  • Assist, mentor, and train other Loan Officer Assistants.
  • Participate in all required compliance training and other educational events as assigned by Loan Ops and Bank leadership.
  • Adhere to corporate policies and procedures and exemplify behaviors in alignment with the bank's vision, mission, and culture.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of credit or customer service experience in the financial services industry.
  • Commercial loan experience preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Excellent telephone and customer service skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state banking regulations.
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills without direct guidance.
  • Demonstrate strong organization and time management skills and the ability to balance competing priorities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a commercial banking environment.
  • Familiarity with Credit Lens software.
