The Senior Manager of North America Crop Protection External Communications will play a crucial role in this mission, based in Greensboro, NC. This position is responsible for managing external communications to enhance Syngenta's reputation as a top innovator and supplier of choice in Crop Protection products and services, as well as in Digital technology. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of the crop protection agriculture business and will be able to anticipate communications needs effectively. They will provide communications and media interview advice and counsel to regional leadership and managers, ensuring that the messaging aligns with the North America Strategic Communications plan and the North America Crop Protection Commercial plan. This includes developing external communications strategies and plans, ensuring effective message and narrative development for business positioning and thought leadership with key audiences through various media channels and events. In addition, the Senior Manager will provide experienced guidance in managing major issues and crisis communications, demonstrating expertise in developing strategy and implementing innovative and effective communications aimed at key audiences, including news media, channel partners, growers, suppliers, legislators, regulators, communities, talent recruits, and other stakeholders. Collaboration with Marketing Communications, Internal Communications, Legal, Business Sustainability, Regulatory Affairs, and Commercial functions will be essential to ensure alignment of communications strategies and efficient operations. The role also involves managing communications resources, including budget and suppliers such as agencies, writers, graphic artists, and video producers, to develop various communications assets like presentations, print and digital collateral, news releases, Q&As, backgrounders, and videos. The Senior Manager will represent Syngenta and the company perspective on key issues with relevant external organizations that support our business and freedom to operate, serving as a member of relevant industry associations' communications committees.

Responsibilities

  • Manage external communications to enhance Syngenta's reputation as a top innovator and supplier of choice in Crop Protection products/services and Digital technology.
  • Anticipate communications needs within the crop protection agriculture business.
  • Provide communications and media interview advice and counsel to regional leadership and managers.
  • Develop external communications strategies/plans in coordination with the North America Strategic Communications plan and North America Crop Protection Commercial plan.
  • Ensure effective message/narrative development for business positioning and thought leadership with key audiences through trade, general and business news media and social media channels and events.
  • Provide guidance in managing major issues/crisis communications strategic messaging.
  • Develop strategy and implement innovative and effective communications aimed at key audiences including news media, channel partners, growers, suppliers, legislators, regulators, communities, talent recruits, and other stakeholders.
  • Work closely with Marketing Communications, Internal Communications, Legal, Business Sustainability, Regulatory Affairs, Commercial, and other functions to ensure alignment of communications strategies, messages and plans.
  • Manage communications resources including budget and suppliers to develop communications assets: presentations, print and digital collateral, news releases, Q&As, backgrounders and videos.
  • Represent Syngenta and the company perspective on key issues with relevant external organizations that support our business and freedom to operate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications or related discipline.
  • A minimum of 10 years of corporate communication experience.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship support from Syngenta.
