About the position

The Senior Community Disaster Program Manager at the American Red Cross is responsible for leading and supporting teams of employees and volunteers in delivering disaster response services. This role focuses on building and sustaining a robust volunteer workforce, ensuring community preparedness, and managing disaster relief operations. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to enhance community engagement and disaster readiness, while also providing opportunities for personal and professional development through disaster response deployments.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a diverse volunteer team for disaster cycle services programming.
• Oversee the implementation of disaster cycle services activities in the assigned geographic area.
• Champion the development of Disaster Leadership Volunteers for disaster readiness and response.
• Supervise efforts to prepare and mobilize communities for disaster response and recovery.
• Build relationships and collaborate in a matrix management environment with internal partners.
• Act as a regional disaster subject matter expert to enhance community engagement.
• Initiate and manage disaster relief operations in alignment with the Disaster Cycle Services Concept.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 5 years of related experience.
• 3 years of supervisory or management experience.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated analytical and decision-making skills.
• Proven record of collaboration with diverse groups.
• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
• Ability to work outside of regular duty hours.
