About the position

As a Senior Community Disaster Program Manager at the American Red Cross, you will lead and support teams of employees and trained volunteers to deliver essential services during disasters. This role focuses on building and energizing the workforce, ensuring community preparedness, and managing disaster response operations. You will be instrumental in empowering volunteers and engaging communities to enhance disaster readiness and response efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Empower Volunteers: Lead and manage a diverse volunteer team responsible for implementing disaster cycle services programming.
  • Lead the Program: Oversee the successful implementation of disaster cycle services activities within the assigned geographic area.
  • Mission Capacity Building: Champion the development of Disaster Leadership Volunteers to enhance disaster readiness and response.
  • Engage Community: Supervise efforts to prepare and mobilize communities for disaster response and recovery.
  • Manage in a Matrix: Collaborate with internal partners in a matrix management environment.
  • Know Your Communities: Act as a regional disaster subject matter expert to maximize community engagement.
  • Ready to Respond: Initiate and manage disaster relief operations in alignment with the Disaster Cycle Services Concept of Operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience.
  • 3 years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Valid Driver's License.
