About the position

The Senior Community Health Nurse position at the Florida Department of Health in Seminole County is a generalist nursing role focused on providing clinical services across various health programs. The nurse will be responsible for administering nursing services in a clinic setting, participating in quality assurance activities, and providing education and treatment for clients in areas such as Family Planning, STD, HIV, and Tuberculosis. This role requires flexibility to work during emergencies and involves collaboration with other healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Administers nursing services in the clinic setting for various health programs.
  • Participates in quality assurance activities through chart reviews and medication inventory.
  • Performs monthly nursing assessments and screenings for Tuberculosis and Refugee Health.
  • Coordinates and performs tasks related to infectious disease testing for clients.
  • Provides nursing education and reviews laboratory results for clients in various health services.
  • Administers medications and immunization services in the clinic setting.
  • Completes required electronic documentation in Health Management System (HMS).
  • Assists with orientation and training for new nursing and clerical staff.
  • Participates in health fairs and community events.
  • Responds to natural disasters and works in Special Needs Shelters.

Requirements

  • Valid Florida Registered Nursing License or multi-state Registered Nursing License in good standing.
  • Direct patient care experience within the last 2 years.
  • Willingness to work before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours in emergencies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Immunizations, Family Planning, STD, HIV/AIDS, School Health, TB/Refugee Health programs.
  • Experience using computer programs to manage client electronic health records.
