About the position
The Senior Community Health Nurse position with the Florida Department of Health in Lee County is responsible for providing public health nursing services to clients in various clinics. The role involves promoting health, conducting health screenings, and managing patient care while ensuring compliance with health information privacy regulations. The nurse will work under the supervision of the Senior Community Health Nursing Supervisor and will be involved in both clinic and community health initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Provide public health nursing services in FDOH-Lee clinics.
- Promote and maintain health through preventative and rehabilitative measures.
- Administer childhood and adult immunizations, reproductive health services, and health education.
- Maintain comprehensive quality records and report data to healthcare professionals.
- Assist with health fairs and public health events as needed.
- Manage medications in the drug room and maintain inventory.
- Prepare biweekly leave/attendance records and daily employee activity records.
Requirements
- Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in Florida or eligibility to practice nursing in Florida.
- Knowledge of nursing and public health principles, practices, and techniques.
- Skill in using medical equipment and instruments for nursing care.
- Ability to teach healthcare and conduct training activities.
- Ability to prioritize workload and administer medications and treatments.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in community health nursing.
- Familiarity with electronic health records systems.
- CPR certification or willingness to obtain during employment.
