About the position

Halff Associates Inc. is seeking to immediately hire a Senior Community Planner / Project Manager for their Richardson, Texas office. The selected candidate will work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team of planners, landscape architects, and other support experts on a wide variety of planning efforts with public and private entities. These efforts will include comprehensive plan preparation, park, recreation, and trails planning, active transportation planning, downtown and corridor planning, special area planning, and urban design efforts. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of client communities through proactive planning and design. The responsibilities of the Senior Community Planner / Project Manager position will encompass project management and support of senior staff projects, public engagement, plan development, report writing, and document production. The candidate will also assist with the preparation of computer-generated maps and graphic elements needed to convey the ideas generated in each planning effort. Additionally, the Senior Planner/Project Manager will mentor younger staff, balance client, company, and project team responsibilities, manage budgets and tasks, and oversee the preparation of high-quality documents and deliverables. The role will also involve periodic participation in business development activities and representing the firm in various capacities. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team on various planning efforts.
  • Manage projects and support senior staff projects.
  • Engage with the public and facilitate community stakeholder input.
  • Develop plans, write reports, and produce documents.
  • Prepare computer-generated maps and graphic elements.
  • Mentor younger staff and manage client relationships.
  • Balance responsibilities among clients, company, and project teams.
  • Manage budgets and tasks effectively.
  • Oversee the preparation of high-quality documents and deliverables.
  • Participate in business development activities and represent the firm.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in community/urban planning, architecture, landscape architecture, or a closely related field; advanced degree is a plus.
  • 6 to 10 years of experience in a planning capacity.
  • Project management experience is required.
  • Well organized, detail-oriented, and highly motivated.
  • Strong writing skills are essential.
  • Demonstrated abilities in facilitating community stakeholder input and public meetings.
  • Knowledge of computer programs (GIS, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office) and ability to oversee the preparation of attractive maps, graphics, and documents.
  • Ability to travel periodically to client jurisdictions primarily within the DFW Metroplex area.
