About the position

The Senior Community Recovery Manager for Hurricane Helene NC & TN Long-Term Recovery Program is responsible for leading community recovery efforts in the aftermath of the disaster. This role involves managing a team, coordinating with community leaders, and implementing recovery strategies to address the needs of affected communities. The position is term-limited for 24 months with potential for extension, and it requires frequent travel within the impacted areas.

Responsibilities

  • Direct, coordinate, manage and support community recovery staff.
  • Produce plans and reports as required.
  • Support grants and individual resilience efforts to maximize impact in vulnerable communities.
  • Conduct community assessments to understand the impact of the storm and recovery efforts.
  • Facilitate strategic planning for community recovery interventions and broker action among community sectors.
  • Manage outreach activities and establish contacts with community stakeholders.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with community agencies, schools, businesses, and government.
  • Monitor progress through data collection and ensure services are available to diverse communities.
  • Coordinate external activities with internal Red Cross departments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • 3 years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of program or service and ability to create presentations and develop training modules.
  • Ability to develop project plans, budgets, and strategies to achieve organizational goals.
  • Demonstrated analytical and decision-making skills for continuous program improvements.
  • Proven track record of collaboration, facilitation, problem solving, marketing, leadership, and partnership management.
  • Intermediate proficiency with MS Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work outside of regular hours, including nights and weekends.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local employment laws.

  • Experience in disaster recovery or humanitarian work.
  • Knowledge of community resources and services in the affected areas.
