About the position

The Senior Compensation Analyst at the University of South Florida plays a crucial role in the Central Human Resources department, acting as a business partner to key stakeholders. This position is responsible for conducting job classification reviews, performing complex job evaluations, and providing market analysis and salary recommendations. The analyst will also participate in the development and implementation of compensation policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with the university's strategic goals and enhancing workforce recruitment and retention.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts position analyses for new positions and proposed reclassifications, ensuring correct classification regarding pay plan, job code, title, FLSA status, pay range, and union status.
  • Prepares written position analysis for jobs changing FLSA status, union eligibility, or pay plan, and updates position records in the Human Resources Information System (GEMS).
  • Monitors job posting activity to identify potential classification problems and conducts reviews of all positions within a department.
  • Analyzes department organization structure in conjunction with classification activity and maintains up-to-date organization charts for assigned client groups.
  • Manages the administration of reorganization activity for client departments, ensuring job classifications are current and position data is correct in GEMS.
  • Collaborates with HR Leaders and team members to identify and implement Best Practices, contributing to workforce recruitment and retention through job evaluation and salary administration.
  • Conducts general and specialized salary studies as assigned to support client group requirements for classification analysis and proposed special pay actions.
  • Audits the accuracy of position data in GEMS and participates in special projects related to HR data management initiatives.
  • Creates special queries and reports in support of classification and compensation work requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated progressive experience in job classification and compensation.
  • Knowledge of wage and hour regulations and compensation principles.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge and skill using Excel as an analytical tool.
  • Experience with Oracle HCM including query systems.
  • Proficiency in Payscale and Microsoft Office programs including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Adaptability to changes in the work environment, managing competing demands and dealing with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies and proven ability to make sustainable, high-quality process improvements.
