About the position

As a Senior Compensation Analyst at Chegg, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the compensation strategy and practices within the organization. Your primary responsibility will be to develop a comprehensive understanding of Chegg's organizational structure and job roles, which will enable you to conduct accurate and rigorous market pricing. You will collaborate closely with HR Business Partners and people managers to create clear and precise career paths and job documentation that align with the company's goals and values. In this role, you will manage relationships with survey vendors and oversee the annual survey participation process, ensuring that Chegg remains competitive in the market. You will also be responsible for designing and building compensation metrics, reports, and tools that will inform compensation program decisions. This includes forecasting, reporting, and analyzing compensation business outcomes to provide actionable insights to management. Your analytical skills will be put to the test as you analyze, document, and evaluate new and revised jobs, recommending appropriate grade levels and FLSA statuses based on market data and internal comparisons. You will program manage the annual compensation planning processes, including salary structure updates, merit increases, and the equity grant process, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations while advising management on any regulatory changes. Additionally, you will develop compensation communication materials and training programs to ensure that all stakeholders are informed and engaged. You will also produce ad hoc analyses based on business requests, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the compensation function within Chegg.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a deep understanding of Chegg and its organizational structure and jobs to complete accurate, rigorous market pricing.
  • Work collaboratively with HR Business Partners and people managers to develop clear, accurate career paths and job documentation.
  • Manage relationships with survey vendors and own the annual survey participation process.
  • Design and build compensation metrics, reports, and tools to inform compensation program decisions and forecast, report, and/or analyze compensation business outcomes.
  • Analyze, document, and evaluate new and revised jobs to recommend appropriate grade level and FLSA status using market data and internal comparisons to ensure external competitiveness and internal equity.
  • Program manage annual compensation planning processes (Focal), including salary structure update, merit increases, and annual and monthly equity grant process.
  • Monitor compensation practices and ensure compliance with laws and regulations and advise management of regulatory changes.
  • Develop compensation communication materials and trainings.
  • Produce ad hoc analyses based on business requests.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in compensation in a professional, fast-paced environment.
  • BA/BS degree with an emphasis on work of a quantitative nature, or equivalent training or experience.
  • Experience building compensation systems and scaling systems with company growth.
  • Strong analytical and Excel skills are required to effectively analyze data and create meaningful, understandable models, reports, and metrics.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team, conduct research, formulate conclusions, and present conclusions regarding business issues.
  • Ability to develop concise presentation decks to illustrate and communicate compensation related information.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
