About the position

The Senior Compensation Analyst at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) plays a crucial role in the planning, development, and administration of compensation policies and programs. This position provides expert guidance to HR Business Partners and university leaders, ensuring the consistent application of compensation practices while evaluating and improving existing policies to align with best practices and regulatory requirements. The analyst will lead compensation projects, conduct market studies, and ensure compliance with compensation regulations, all while fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Provides counsel to HRBPs in the implementation of compensation programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Consults and advises university leaders on compensation rules, job evaluation results, and market studies.
  • Leads compensation projects and serves on campus-wide committees regarding compensation matters.
  • Recommends and reviews proposed salary offers and adjustments for internal equity and compliance with guidelines.
  • Leads key components of the annual salary program, ensuring timely communication and data integrity.
  • Analyzes job evaluation requests to determine FLSA classification and wage band for staff positions.
  • Conducts complex research and analysis for market and job studies, presenting recommendations to university leaders.
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal compensation regulations.
  • Leads efforts to ensure accuracy of key compensation data and recommends ERP system enhancements.
  • Designs and delivers compensation training programs and provides mentoring to Compensation Analysts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 3 years of experience in compensation and data analysis.
  • Experience working with job architectures is strongly preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of compensation techniques, theory, practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Superior analytical skills including complex data analysis and reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage complex projects.
  • Ability to influence others and support recommended actions.
  • Advanced skills in data analysis and decision-making using data.
  • Proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables and vlookup functions.
  • Ability to visualize data and convey trends effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves
