About the position

The Senior Compensation Analyst plays a crucial role in the Central Human Resources department at the University of South Florida. This position acts as a business partner, building strategic relationships with key stakeholders while conducting job classification reviews and providing guidance on organizational structure. The analyst is responsible for performing complex job evaluations, market analysis, and statistical analysis of compensation data, contributing to the development and implementation of compensation policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts position analyses for new positions and proposed reclassifications, ensuring correct classification with respect to pay plan, job code, FLSA status, and union status.
  • Prepares written position analysis for jobs changing FLSA status, union eligibility, or pay plan.
  • Updates position records in the Human Resources Information System (GEMS) to reflect classification actions.
  • Monitors job posting activity to identify potential classification problems.
  • Conducts reviews of all positions within a department and analyzes department organization structure.
  • Maintains up-to-date organization charts for assigned client groups using reporting data from GEMS.
  • Manages the administration of reorganization activity for client departments, ensuring job classifications are current.
  • Collaborates with HR Leaders and team members to identify and implement Best Practices.
  • Contributes to workforce recruitment and retention through job evaluation and salary administration.
  • Participates in the compilation of data for external salary surveys and other studies.
  • Conducts general and specialized salary studies as needed to support client group requirements.
  • Reviews market pay and pay equity, making recommendations for hiring ranges and pay adjustments.
  • Audits the accuracy of position data in GEMS and corrects errors.
  • Participates in special projects related to HR data management initiatives.
  • Creates special queries and reports in support of classification and compensation work requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated progressive experience in job classification and compensation.
  • Knowledge of wage and hour regulations and compensation principles.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge and skill using Excel as an analytical tool.
  • Experience with Oracle HCM including query systems.
  • Proficiency in Payscale and Microsoft Office programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
  • Adaptability to changes in the work environment and managing competing demands.
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies.
