About the position

Carter's Inc., the largest North American apparel retailer exclusively for babies and young children, is seeking a talented Senior Compensation Analyst to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing data, crafting strategic compensation plans, and collaborating closely with HR. You will act as the owner of all things compensation, utilizing your problem-solving skills and clear communication abilities to make a significant impact. This position reports to the Director of Compensation & HR Analytics and is based in our Buckhead Office, offering a hybrid on-site work environment. As a Senior Compensation Analyst, you will lead the administration of compensation programs that support global compensation needs across all corporate, retail, and distribution locations. You will partner with the Director to implement, communicate, and administer global broad-based compensation programs and incentives. Additionally, you will manage the annual merit and midyear compensation cycles, including creating customized communication statements, and maintain the library of job descriptions across all functions. Your role will also involve creating and maintaining documentation around job architecture and leveling guidance for all jobs. In terms of compensation analysis, you will lead the annual salary survey process, recommending surveys to purchase, preparing participation materials, submitting data, and identifying gaps where additional survey data may be needed. You will perform ad hoc analyses to provide guidance on creating new compensation programs or redesigning current ones, and you will own the compensation structures and wage grades, ensuring they are updated and communicated effectively. Your consultative delivery will involve working closely with HR Business Partners to provide consulting and day-to-day compensation support. You will help drive the continued implementation and use of Workday for compensation processes and partner with finance, legal, and other departments to ensure compliance with employee compensation practices and policies. Additionally, you will liaise with external compensation consultants and vendors as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the administration of compensation programs supporting global compensation needs for all corporate, retail, and distribution locations.
  • Implements, communicates, and administers global broad-based compensation programs and incentives in partnership with the Director.
  • Manages the annual merit and midyear compensation cycles, including creating customized communication statements.
  • Manages the library of job descriptions across all functions and creates/maintains the job profile setup in Workday.
  • Creates and maintains documentation around job architecture/leveling guidance for all jobs.
  • Leads the annual salary survey process, recommending surveys to purchase, preparing participation materials, submitting data, and identifying gaps where additional survey data may be needed.
  • Performs ad hoc analyses to provide guidance on creating new compensation programs and initiatives or redesigning current programs.
  • Analyzes jobs using market and internal data, determining appropriate wage grades within the appropriate structure.
  • Keeps compensation structures updated and communicated with all partners.
  • Works closely with HR Business Partners to provide consulting and day-to-day compensation support.
  • Helps drive continued implementation and use of Workday for compensation processes.
  • Partners with finance, legal, and other departments to ensure compliance with employee compensation practices and policies.
  • Liaises with external compensation consultants and vendors as needed.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of compensation experience, preferably in a global organization.
  • Advanced skill level required in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to multi-task while remaining focused on accuracy.
  • Highly motivated with a strong customer-centered focus.
  • Ability to partner and effectively communicate with members of the HR team and cross-functionally.
  • HRIS reporting capabilities, preferably within Workday.
  • Strong understanding of Human Resource principles.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Prior experience maintaining and supporting compensation programs.
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot issues and resolve the root cause.
  • Workday HCM/Compensation experience preferred.
