About the position

The Senior Computer & Electrical Engineer at Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC will be part of the Naval Nuclear Laboratory's Examination Design Projects subdivision, focusing on the development of precision mechatronic examination systems for inspecting irradiated fuel. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver engineered equipment and systems, from concept design to hardware delivery, while addressing challenges associated with examining spent nuclear fuel and performing irradiation testing.

Responsibilities

• Develop precision mechatronic examination systems for inspecting irradiated fuel.
• Conduct research and development of novel technologies.
• Perform proof of principle testing and design integration with motion control systems.
• Collaborate with mechanical and software engineers, test sponsors, and operations personnel to deliver solutions.
• Support the delivery of fully engineered equipment and systems from requirements development to hardware delivery.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or science related field and 6 years of relevant experience; or
• Master's degree in engineering or science related field and 4 years of relevant experience; or
• Currently or previously Shift Supervisor Part I qualified; or
• EDO qualified with 2 years EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program; or
• 3 years SRE qualified and Water Instructor and Refueling Facility Area Refueling Engineer; or
• SRE qualified with 6 years of experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Proficient oral and written communication skills.

• Experience with instrumentation and controls, PLC systems, and computer programming.
