About the position

The Senior Confluent Cloud Platform Engineer will lead the design and implementation of Kafka-based streaming and messaging solutions across both on-premises and Confluent Cloud platforms. This role requires a deep understanding of the Confluent Event Streaming Platform, including KSQL DB, Schema Registry, and Kafka connectors, to provide technical direction and establish best practices for Kafka administration and development teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and implement Kafka-based streaming and messaging solutions across on-prem and Confluent Cloud platform.
• Provide technical direction for Kafka implementations.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka Brokers and understanding of underlying functionality.
• Create guidelines, procedures, and best practices for Kafka administration and development teams.
• Guide and support upgrade/maintenance of Confluent Kafka platform from current version to latest release.
• Support enhancements to Confluent Cloud clusters.
• Collaborate with development teams, product managers, operations teams, and architect groups to integrate Kafka into applications and data pipelines.
• Understand Site Reliability Engineering principles and methodologies.
• Support production changes and major incident escalations, including some weekend work.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience with Confluent Event Streaming Platform (Confluent Kafka/Confluent Cloud platform).
• 6+ years of hands-on experience with KSQL DB, Schema Registry, and Kafka connectors.
• Good understanding of Kafka client (Producer and Consumer) functionality.
• Ability to learn and adapt to new developments in the Kafka ecosystem.
