About the position

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Senior Construction Inspector to join their team in Freehold, NJ. This role involves providing construction oversight for local projects, ensuring compliance with contract documents, and coordinating with project engineers and contractors. The inspector will be responsible for documenting construction activities and supporting on-site engineering efforts.

Responsibilities

• Observing construction to ensure work is performed according to approved contract documents, plans, and specifications.
• Performing full-time observation of construction activities and supporting the documentation process.
• Preparing detailed electronic Daily Reports to record daily activities for project needs.
• Providing site support for on-site engineering subcontractors.
• Acting responsibly and safely, observing actions by others for unsafe practices.
• Recognizing contractual changes and documenting any potential project issues.
• Monitoring all on-site activities and representing Mott MacDonald and the client professionally.
• Driving for business purposes as required.
• Supporting projects in the Cape May, NJ area.

Requirements

• 15+ years of experience performing construction observation for water/wastewater projects.
• OSHA 10 certification required; OSHA 40 preferred.
• Confined space entry certification.
• Understanding of contract documents, plans, and specifications with effective communication skills.
• Comprehension of shop drawings, material specifications, mechanical operations, and basic electrical and process control knowledge.
• Knowledge of construction products, materials, equipment, and safety regulations.
• Experience with GPS and data collection computers.
• High School Diploma and interest in inspection on large, multi-discipline projects.
• Valid driver's license required.

Nice-to-haves

• NICET IV certification preferred, but not required.
