About the position

Harris is seeking an experienced Senior Construction Manager/Resident Engineer to lead and manage the successful delivery of infrastructure projects within the Program & Construction Management Division in Salinas, CA. This role involves being the primary point of contact for clients and working collaboratively with Harris staff to ensure strong client relationships and successful project outcomes. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing medium to large infrastructure projects, particularly during the construction phase, with a strong focus on issue resolution, CPM scheduling, and change management.

Responsibilities

  • Interact daily with clients, designers, stakeholders, contractors, and inspectors to oversee construction performance and ensure deliverables meet plans, specifications, budget, and schedule.
  • Coordinate and manage Harris sub-consultants as applicable.
  • Review engineering drawings and contract specifications for accuracy, constructability, and completeness.
  • Evaluate and monitor project progress, verifying compliance with plans, material specifications, and schedule.
  • Track and manage construction costs against the project budget, review, negotiate, and process change orders, and participate in claims reviews if applicable.
  • Produce daily, weekly, and monthly reports as required by contract.
  • Monitor and document contractor work according to established construction management practices, managing all project communications and correspondence.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of CM project experience with increasing responsibilities.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Licensed Engineer in California.
  • Experience with infrastructure projects including utilities, roads and highways, flood control and drainage, and pipelines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Oversight of project teams.
  • Ability to create and maintain a team approach to problem-solving.
  • Experience responding to RFP's and RFQ's.
  • Client management experience.
  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM) or Certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
