About the position

The Senior Consultant - Cybersecurity Compliance position at Optiv + ClearShark is a fully remote role that requires a highly skilled individual capable of operating independently without direct supervision. This role is pivotal in leading the delivery of engagements aimed at providing significant value to clients. The Senior Consultant is expected to maintain a mastery of capabilities aligned with Optiv + ClearShark's service practices while also exploring future opportunities for growth. The individual will execute all tasks outlined in the statement of work and lead a team of Associate, Level I, and Level II Consultants in their daily operations and career development. Excellent communication and leadership skills are essential, as the Senior Consultant will regularly interact with clients and engineers in a leadership capacity. The focus of this position is on compliance, specifically providing advisory services related to FedRAMP, CMMC, and FISMA. Responsibilities include delivering compliance-related education and training, conducting assessments, and providing remediation recommendations to clients. The Senior Consultant will contribute to thought leadership initiatives, oversee the creation of new Standard Operating Procedures, and propose new advisory services based on industry demand. They will also lead discussions with clients to understand their needs, aid junior consultants, and document project progress effectively. In addition to engagement delivery, the Senior Consultant will manage team operations by monitoring timecards, conducting performance reviews, and mentoring junior staff. Building strong client relationships and identifying cross-sell and up-sell opportunities are also key aspects of the role. The position requires a proactive approach to professional development, including obtaining certifications and providing training opportunities for team members.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of engagements to provide value for clients.
  • Execute all tasks outlined in the scope of work without direct oversight.
  • Lead discussions with clients to analyze their needs and objectives.
  • Aid Associate, Level I, and Level II Consultants on complex tasks.
  • Lead technical discussions with clients to understand engineering requirements.
  • Document project progress, issues, and resolutions in a timely manner.
  • Monitor and approve timecards and expense reports for team members.
  • Serve as a mentor for junior consultants and perform annual performance reviews.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure satisfaction.
  • Identify and communicate cross-sell and up-sell opportunities with the account team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 5+ years as an auditor with a focus on FedRAMP and/or DoD IL 4/5 assessments.
  • 2+ years providing FedRAMP advisory service (preferred).
  • 8+ years of experience in cybersecurity compliance management or assessment.
  • Certified to conduct CMMC assessments (preferred).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance if required.
  • Robust understanding of cybersecurity and infrastructure concepts.
  • Strong understanding of governance and compliance, specifically with FAR, DFARs, CUI, and CMMC.
  • Superior communication skills, especially in translating complex compliance requirements into actionable concepts.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with additional compliance frameworks beyond FedRAMP and CMMC.
  • Previous experience in a consulting role.
  • Familiarity with government contracting processes.
