About the position

The Senior Consultant at Public Consulting Group (PCG) will play a pivotal role in enhancing educational outcomes for state and local education agencies in New Jersey and New York. This position requires a consultative approach to address complex challenges in the education sector, focusing on special education, strategic planning, and data management. The consultant will be responsible for developing and executing strategies that expand PCG's impact on teaching and learning, while also providing leadership and expertise to clients.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted partner to state and local agency clients, applying a consultative approach to solve complex problems.
  • Help clients devise strategic plans and serve as a change agent in realizing those plans.
  • Build and maintain strong professional networks within the education sector.
  • Understand and serve as an expert in federal regulations and requirements.
  • Independently manage complex projects and tasks with limited supervision.
  • Develop and lead effective communication plans with client agencies.
  • Identify and elicit requirements from key stakeholders in each engagement.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on federal funding and service provision requirements.
  • Develop and execute new growth strategies and identify new sales opportunities.
  • Facilitate client discussions and identify gaps and necessary workarounds.
  • Plan and monitor ongoing project tasks and delegate responsibilities to team members.
  • Assess best practices and provide technical assistance to clients.
  • Lead proposal writing teams and prepare proposal submissions.
  • Mentor, supervise, and develop junior staff members.
  • Manage daily project functions and client interactions.

Requirements

  • Deep working knowledge of K-12 public school systems within New Jersey and/or New York.
  • Ability to engage and develop strong relationships with agency executives, teachers, and stakeholders.
  • Strong quantitative skills for data analysis and interpretation.
  • Ability to research and interpret policy, legal briefs, and regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and achieve excellent results.
  • Effective collaboration with all project team members.
  • Outstanding oral and written presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative in creating new business opportunities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Graduate degree preferred.
  • 5-10 years of relevant work experience.
