About the position

The position is responsible for performing a variety of duties to support the Credit Origination function, coordinating work within the unit or department, as well as with other departments and units. The role includes reporting pertinent information to the immediate supervisor and responding to inquiries or requests for information. The individual will demonstrate core values and guiding principles as outlined in the Bank's Mission, Vision, and Value Statements, providing exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers through prompt, polite, and effective communication. The position also involves participating as a member of the team and contributing positively and proactively to the Bank's Strategic Plan while ensuring compliance with company policies and state/federal laws.

Responsibilities

  • Gives exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers by providing prompt, polite and effective communication.

  • Ensures that all activities and work functions adhere to compliance requirements as defined in company policies and procedures as well as state/federal laws and regulations.
  • Provides credit reports for appropriate customer service personnel on prospective borrowers within proper procedure.
  • Assists with loan application processing tasks, e.g., obtains required information, compiles data, etc., as directed.
  • Makes loan decisions within prescribed limits.
  • Coordinates the organization and procurement of required loan documentation, utilizing the appropriate checklist.
  • Verifies and processes a wide variety of credit information which will become part of the credit file.
  • Prepares all necessary documents to close consumer loans using bank LOS.
  • Provides information for, and assists in the preparation of, various loan reports, as directed.
  • Prepares disclosures for a variety of consumer mortgage products.
  • Prepares a variety of letters and forms such as commitment letters, adverse action letters for declined loans.
  • Provides thorough documentation of all financial analysis work, including ratios and other related information.
  • Insures that all credit analysis activities are conducted in accordance with prescribed lending policy.
  • Coordinates specific work tasks with other personnel within the unit or department as well as with other units and departments.
  • Cooperates with, participates in, and supports adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management.
  • Reports pertinent information to the immediate supervisor as requested, or according to an established schedule.
  • Supports branch personnel through the underwriting and preparation of loan applications and documents.
  • Responds to inquiries relating to his/her particular area, or to requests from customers, other bank personnel, etc.
  • Maintains customer service and sales objectives as assigned by Supervisor.
  • Obtains and maintains annual registration with the National Mortgage and Licensing System and Registry as required under the provisions of the SAFE Act.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in loan origination or related field preferred.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of compliance requirements related to lending.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with bank loan origination systems.
  • Familiarity with BSA & AML regulations.
  • Previous experience in a financial institution.
