About the position

The Senior Content Marketing Strategist at SANS Institute is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive content strategy that aligns with the organization's goals. This role involves overseeing the entire content development process, ensuring high customer engagement, and generating leads through various content formats. The strategist will collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage relationships with external content creators, and analyze content performance to optimize future strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and executing a content strategy informed by audience segmentation and journey stages.
  • Partnering with campaign managers and marketing leads to deliver and maintain global content across multiple channels.
  • Ensuring content aligns with strategic imperatives and has measurable business impact.
  • Selecting and optimizing content distribution with geo marketing teams.
  • Creating a comprehensive content calendar for collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Monitoring and measuring marketing campaign effectiveness and recommending improvements.
  • Managing relationships with external content creators and influencers.
  • Ensuring content compliance with governance guidelines and policies.
  • Auditing and managing content assets for adherence to brand voice and targeted outcomes.
  • Owning the content strategy for the website and managing the content creation process from ideation to publication.
  • Identifying trends, content gaps, and audience preferences.
  • Managing content delivery across multiple platforms and channels.
  • Developing KPIs and metrics for content performance in collaboration with the data and analytics team.
  • Guiding the content production team for SEO optimization and user-friendly design.
  • Staying updated with industry trends and algorithm changes affecting content and marketing.
  • Reporting on content effectiveness and optimization plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience with content creation, strategy building, and content marketing, preferably in cybersecurity.
  • Ability to connect data and insights to develop actionable content strategies.
  • Experience with content management systems (CMS) and digital asset management systems (DAMS).
  • Working knowledge of search engine marketing (SEM).
  • Exemplary interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Excellent planning and management skills to oversee multiple content campaigns.

Nice-to-haves

  • Good understanding of user behavior and user experience design.
  • Familiarity with email marketing and social media marketing campaigns.
  • Knowledge of best practices to enhance user experience (UX).
  • Strong understanding of SEO principles and keyword research.
  • Ability to work with customer relationship management (CRM) and marketing automation software.
