About the position

Our legal team plays a crucial role in supporting TikTok's innovative initiatives and state-of-the-art products, ensuring that we navigate the complex landscape of content safety, moderation, and regulation effectively. As a Senior Content Moderation Counsel within the Trust & Safety team, you will be at the forefront of addressing critical challenges related to content safety and compliance. This full-time position can be based in Los Angeles or any other location within the United States, providing a unique opportunity for an ambitious lawyer eager to engage with industry-defining challenges and new areas of law. In this role, you will serve as the lead on Trust & Safety Product matters, collaborating closely with our Trust & Safety Product teams both in the US and globally. You will provide legal advice on various product matters, ensuring that our initiatives align with regional and local content regulations. Your expertise will be invaluable as you support in-house lawyers in developing compliance strategies and implementing them effectively. As a trusted advisor to senior management, you will guide content safety and moderation strategies, working in a cross-functional environment that includes government affairs, communications, and other business professionals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in legal practice, particularly in product legal compliance, content moderation, and online safety. You will leverage your experience to coordinate activities across multiple business units and jurisdictions, ensuring that TikTok remains a safe and enjoyable platform for users worldwide. Your excellent communication skills will enable you to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and cultures, driving impact and fostering a culture of creativity and joy within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as lead on Trust & Safety Product matters within the Global Legal Content Moderation function
  • Work closely with Trust & Safety Product teams in the US and globally to develop and provide legal advice on Trust & Safety Product matters
  • Support in-house lawyers to assess regional and/or local content regulations and laws, develop compliance strategies and support their implementation
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior management on content safety and content moderation strategies and matters
  • Collaborate in a cross-functional environment with government affairs, communications, and other business professionals on content safety, content moderation, and content regulatory matters.

Requirements

  • Qualified to practice law and in good standing in the United States
  • 5+ years of legal practice experience, focusing on product legal compliance, content moderation, content regulation, and/or online safety aspects
  • Proven performance leveraging cross-functional teams and coordinating activities across multiple business units, organizations, and jurisdictions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and cultures.
