About the position

As the Senior Updates Editor at FinanceBuzz, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our library of published content. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that all articles are up-to-date, accurate, and optimized for both user experience and search engine performance. This position requires a deep understanding of SEO strategies at an article level, as well as a strong background in personal finance. You will be expected to make live updates in a content management system (CMS) and possess excellent writing skills to implement substantial changes when necessary. In this role, you will manage a team of skilled updates editors, overseeing the quality and quantity of their work while providing daily feedback. Your efforts will directly influence our content's rankings and revenue generation. You will also contribute to the long-term SEO strategy by designing and implementing product solutions. Success in this position means having an eagle eye for detail, questioning facts, and seeking the most current information. You will need to juggle multiple projects, prioritize effectively, and make smart decisions to maximize impact with limited resources. Your success will be measured by your ability to review and update published SEO content for factual accuracy, user experience, and content quality. You will ensure that all updated content adheres to our style and compliance guidelines while creating reports to synthesize data and insights for the Editorial Team. Collaboration with the team will be essential for your growth, as will your independent efforts to enhance your SEO knowledge and apply it to improve the FinanceBuzz brand as a leading source of personal finance information and education.

Responsibilities

• Review and update published SEO content for factual accuracy and up-to-dateness.
• Enhance user experience and content quality.
• Ensure subject-matter expertise and trustworthiness in all content.
• Monitor monetization and channel-specific performance.
• Maintain logical completeness and internal linking according to SEO best practices.
• Ensure all updated content adheres to style, sourcing, and compliance guidelines.
• Create reports and synthesize data and insights on the update process for the Editorial Team.
• Develop and maintain update-related documentation for the team.
• Work closely with the Editorial Team to improve knowledge and skills through feedback and mentorship.
• Independently improve knowledge of SEO best practices and share insights with the team.
• Contribute to growing and fostering the FinanceBuzz brand as a top destination for personal finance information and education.

Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience in a digital editor or writer role.
• Excellent editing and writing skills with a passion for creating high-quality, high-performance content.
• Expertise in personal finance and familiarity with compliance.
• Ability to work independently and make decisions.
• Experience working within a CMS (WordPress, Drupal, etc.).
• Proficiency in Google Docs, Google Sheets, and project management tools like Asana, Airtable, or Trello.
• Clear understanding of search engine optimization principles.
• Basic knowledge of HTML is a plus.
