About the position

The Senior Content Writer at Matter is a pivotal role focused on creating and executing comprehensive content strategies for clients across various industries, particularly in technology. This position requires a master storyteller who can develop engaging, on-brand content that aligns with visual concepts and supports the overall marketing strategy. The role emphasizes collaboration with PR, social media, and digital marketing teams to craft compelling narratives that differentiate clients in the marketplace. Responsibilities

  • Create and execute comprehensive client content programs
  • Lead content development and drafting for projects including case studies, bylined articles, blog posts, video scripts, white papers, press releases, and Q&As
  • Collaborate with SEO, Creative, and Social teams to formulate content plans and counsel clients on content options
  • Assign and manage in-house team members on writing assignments
  • Provide constructive feedback on all content and train team members on writing improvement
  • Lead agency-wide training sessions for Matter U
  • Work closely with PR teams to craft compelling brand stories for clients
  • Support byline idea development with PR teams and share newsworthy angles
  • Ensure all messaging and content is on-brand and on-mission
  • Demonstrate ability to quickly become familiar with new topics and write with clarity and creativity
  • Maintain flexibility amid shifting deadlines and manage client expectations
  • Lead intake calls, story-mining sessions, and interviews with stakeholders and clients
  • Establish relationships with clients and be seen as a go-to person on content programs
  • Demonstrate a range of writing styles and adapt tone, voice, and format depending on client and project

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years experience writing and leading strategy in PR/marketing setting (in-house, agency, or journalist)
  • Excellent editing skills and knowledge of AP Style
  • Portfolio of existing work
  • Strong multitasking abilities
  • Conceptual, collaborative, and highly creative
  • Independent worker driven to meet deadlines
  • Dependable and able to handle constructive criticism diplomatically
  • Good leadership skills
