About the position

The Senior Controller for the South Platform at Acrisure Business Services is a pivotal role responsible for the daily oversight and management of the South Platform Accounting Team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting for corporate and audit purposes, coordinating financial reporting for all Platform partners. The Senior Controller will assist leadership teams in analyzing developing trends and will help formulate plans for improvement in collaboration with local financial teams. In this role, the Senior Controller will take ownership of the monthly reporting process, which includes managing internal and external deadlines, conducting reviews and analyses, and implementing process improvements. The oversight of the Platform accounting team encompasses day-to-day transactions and the month-end closing process, which involves detailed analytical reviews of financial statements and reconciliations. The individual will also assist with the monthly review of the income statement against the business plan and research any variances. Additionally, the Senior Controller will assess and assist in implementing appropriate modifications to the financial internal control structure while ensuring that local decision-making is maintained for ongoing operations. Adherence to minimum accounting standard requirements as outlined by Corporate Accounting is essential. The role requires close collaboration with Acrisure's Corporate Accounting, Finance & Treasury group regarding reporting, analysis, and developments. The Senior Controller may also assist Platform Leadership and the Acrisure Finance team with the annual business planning process and strategic financial analysis. Furthermore, the position involves partnering across other operational areas to ensure successful onboarding and integration efforts for future Platform growth, as well as assisting with the initial configuration and ongoing review of the platform agency management system to ensure accurate accrual accounting and revenue/expense recognition methods are in place.

Responsibilities

  • Ownership of the monthly reporting process, including internal and external deadlines, review and analysis, and process improvements.
  • Oversight of the Platform accounting team in day-to-day transactions and month-end closing process, including detailed analytical reviews of financial statements & reconciliations.
  • Assist with monthly review of income statement to business plan and research variances.
  • Assess and assist the implementation of appropriate modifications to the financial internal control structure while maintaining appropriate local decision making for ongoing operations.
  • Adhere to minimum accounting standard requirements, as outlined by Corporate Accounting.
  • Work closely with Acrisure's Corporate Accounting, Finance & Treasury group in regards to reporting, analysis, and developments.
  • May assist Platform Leadership and Acrisure Finance team with the annual business planning process and strategic financial analysis.
  • Partner across other operational areas to ensure successful onboarding and integration efforts for future Platform growth.
  • Assist with initial configuration and ongoing review of platform agency management system, ensuring that accurate accrual accounting and revenue/expense recognition methods are in place.
  • Understand, request, and approve staffing needs aligned with budget, metric targets, and future anticipated growth.

Requirements

  • Strong U.S. GAAP & Sarbanes Oxley control knowledge & experience.
  • Minimum (8) eight years of experience in an accounting, auditing and/or financial analysis required.
  • Experience managing leaders and large teams.
  • Insurance brokerage/related industry accounting background, required.
  • Applied Epic and Workday experience, preferred.
  • Technology Skills: Applied and Vertafore platforms or similar agency management software experience, preferred.
  • Workday experience is a plus.
  • Quickbooks experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Must be analytical, organized, and detail-oriented with excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Must have a high level of problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with key stakeholders at all levels within an organization.
