About the position

The Senior Accounting Controller will oversee and manage the financial operations of multiple companies within Thrive Therapy of Kansas. This leadership role requires a highly skilled accounting professional to shape financial processes, ensure compliance, and drive financial success across diverse business units. The position involves providing controller-level oversight of financial reporting and compliance, as well as director-level leadership in developing financial strategies and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounting functions for multiple companies, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
  • Provide financial analysis and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting process for each company.
  • Develop and implement financial policies and controls to ensure compliance and optimize efficiency.
  • Manage and review the preparation of accurate financial statements for all entities.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and relevant regulations in financial reporting.
  • Oversee audit preparations and ensure clean audit results.
  • Handle tax filings and compliance across all entities.
  • Strengthen internal controls to safeguard company assets and prevent fraud.
  • Identify and manage financial risks, developing mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor accounting systems and recommend improvements.
  • Lead and manage a finance team, providing guidance and professional development.
  • Set performance expectations and ensure high-quality work from the accounting team.
  • Foster a collaborative work environment and promote teamwork.
  • Collaborate with executive team and other departments to ensure accurate financial data.
  • Support decision-making processes with relevant financial data and reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred).
  • Minimum of 8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with 3-5 years in a senior accounting or controller role.
  • Experience in a multi-entity or multi-company environment is preferred.
  • Proven experience in managing audits and preparing financial statements.
  • Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP, accounting standards, and tax regulations.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls and risk management principles.
  • Advanced proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in healthcare finance is a plus.
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks, NetSuite, or Sage accounting software.
