In this position, you will have a critical support role in our Advanced Thermal Systems team, as we work closely with our customers to define the future of commercial electric vehicles. You will improve efficiencies and reduce costs within our Advanced Thermal Systems operations. The Sr. Controls Engineer position will be supporting our Advanced Thermal Systems business in our Lawrenceburg, TN and Pontevico, Italy facilities, which serves Bus, Truck, Specialty Vehicle and Last Mile Delivery.

Responsibilities

  • New Product introduction for new models using Allen Bradley PLC, w/safety first, & maintaining customer specific test conditions for various test articles w/new or current equipment.
  • Develop specialized skills unique to specific test equipment to understand its operation (temperature/pressure/flow instrumentation, data acquisition).
  • Analyze & understand infrastructure capabilities vs. test equipment needs.
  • Troubleshoot test equipment when equipment unable to achieve desired inputs or outputs. Make repairs, then make arrangements to implement and document repairs.
  • Generate and maintain test equipment preventive maintenance documentation.
  • Maintain test equipment for efficient use of utilities (natural gas, water, compressed air, electrical).
  • Research, justify and implement new products and technology.
  • Must have experience defect mapping and SPC knowledge.
  • Establish calibration needs for test equipment, approve calibration certificates.
  • Write equipment specifications work with external vendors for new equipment and test modifications in software.
  • Support other test equipment's outside of the TN facility even globally remote & onsite.
  • Design & develop data manipulation and reporting procedures that meet quality and customer needs.
  • Develop test reports (confirm accuracy, test conditions) after testing completed.
  • Standardize test set ups and instrumentation procedures.
  • Responsible for the training of technicians and other engineers as assigned.
  • Participate in lean manufacturing initiatives that support continuous process improvement.
  • Improve processes to ensure that quality products are delivered on-time at competitive cost.
  • Work with cross-functional team to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Productivity key performance indicators.
  • Hands-on approach to data collection, analysis, recommendations of opportunities, and implementation.
  • Participate & lead in root cause analyses, non-conformance investigations and corrective action implementations.
  • Assist with transitioning products from prototype to production.

Requirements

  • College graduate in engineering or related technical discipline with 5 minimum years engineering experience in test equipment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; collaborative team player with an entrepreneurial spirit and can-do attitude.
  • PLC & HMI Programming experience.
  • Ability to interact effectively with internal and external personnel.
  • Sound judgment with data, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Sound project management skills.
  • High level of initiative and positive work ethic.
  • Organizational skills with outstanding attention to detail.
  • Analytical skills: ability to develop fact-based recommendations resulting from in-depth data analysis.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to meet project deadlines.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3D Modeling in Solid Works experience is not required but preferred (3D Printing also a plus).
  • CAN Communication experience is not required but preferred.
  • XCT Software is not required but preferred.
  • SQL Data base experience is not required but preferred.
