About the position

The Senior Coordinator, Operations is responsible for performing duties related to Major League Soccer (MLS) and Soccer United Marketing (SUM) Operations for Major League Soccer regular season, playoffs and marquee events.

Responsibilities

  • Supports all aspects of the Operations Department.
  • Plays a significant role with the day-to-day management of the MLS Regular Season, SUM international events and Leagues Cup.
  • Acts as a representative for the Soccer Operations Center (SOC).
  • Reviews in-stadium and game related incidents throughout the season and playoffs.
  • Communicates with weather service provider to develop forecast reports for senior staff.
  • Maintains Operations MLS Connect page.
  • Plans and implements operational assignments for events within MLS and SUM properties including but not limited to MLS All-Star, MLS Cup, MexTour and Leagues Cup.
  • Assists with finalizing Consultant and Vendor Contract Agreements.
  • Serves as operational Account Manager to assigned MLS Clubs.
  • Assists with updating and maintaining operational documents to include Training Site Guide and Match Operations Manual.
  • Performs administrative duties such as processing payment for vendors and third parties, reviewing contracts, and budget reconciliation.
  • Assists with leading the department's equipment inventory, including maintaining accurate records, and ensuring the availability of necessary materials.
  • Assists in the management of tracking expenses and allocating budget codes for the department's budget.
  • Assists in the preparation of presentations to executives and department leaders.
  • Assists in the supervision of department intern(s), if applicable.
  • Travels up to 40%.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Sport Management, Sports Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in events and/or operations (preferably within the sports industry).
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills.
  • Prepare dynamic and effective presentations.
  • Track record of superior organization, project management skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent relationship-building, communication, team building, and interpersonal skills.
  • High-level commitment to quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity and compliance.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team environment.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Smartsheet.
  • Ability to multi-task across multiple projects and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to travel and to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to work remotely and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in sporting operations and execution.
  • Knowledge of the Spanish language (business proficiency).
  • Knowledge of the sport of soccer.
