About the position

As a Senior Copywriter at Heartbeat, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the narrative and messaging for our healthcare clients. Your primary responsibility will be to collaborate with art directors, account teams, and other creatives to develop innovative and strategically sound solutions that meet the needs of our clients, both in-house and for new business opportunities. You will take ownership of projects from inception to completion, ensuring that all copy adheres to the American Medical Association (AMA) style or brand guidelines, and is prepared for medical and legal review without the need for supervision. Your attention to detail will be crucial as you maintain narrative consistency, voice, and tone across all content, working closely with the Editorial team to ensure accuracy. You will also be responsible for clearly communicating information and direction to other writers, suppliers, freelancers, and editorial staff, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages creativity and innovation. In addition to your writing responsibilities, you will participate in client meetings and presentations, attend market research sessions, and present your work in an organized and engaging manner. You will oversee the development of copy decks and manuscripts, guiding them through to launch in partnership with the Editorial and Creative Director. Your role will also involve initiating data searches and maintaining brand reference files to support your writing efforts. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with art directors, planning, and account teams to provide creative solutions for client needs.
  • Take ownership of projects from beginning to end.
  • Write, reference, and annotate copy using AMA or brand style for medical/legal review without supervision.
  • Ensure narrative consistency, voice, tone, and accuracy of content in partnership with Editorial.
  • Communicate information and direction clearly to other writers, suppliers, freelancers, and editorial staff.
  • Participate in client meetings and presentations.
  • Attend market research sessions to inform copy development.
  • Present work in an organized and engaging manner.
  • Oversee the development of copy decks and manuscripts through to launch.
  • Initiate data searches and maintain brand reference files.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in pharmaceutical/healthcare marketing writing.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to recognize and develop strong creative ideas.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines for multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with referencing and annotating work.
  • Track record as a creative problem solver with fresh ideas and perspectives.
  • Experience writing consumer-focused content.
