About the position

The Senior Cost Accountant will play a pivotal role in the financial health and strategy of a growing manufacturing company. This permanent position requires a dynamic and detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of cost accounting principles, job costing, and work-in-progress (WIP) accounting.

Responsibilities

• Implementing and maintaining the cost accounting system, documents, and records of the organization.
• Analyzing and recommending costs and cost savings.
• Preparing and completing internal cost audits.
• Complying with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statements.
• Assisting in month end close of the General Ledger.
• Conducting physical inventories and monitoring the cycle count program.
• Reconciling finished goods inventories.
• Preparing detailed account analysis and reconciling sales, cost, and inventory, liability accounts.
• Reviewing and analyzing inventory and margin reports, conducting research, and performing analytical studies in regards to cost analyses and profitability.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting; an MBA is preferred.
• Minimum of 2+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong cost systems background and excellent analytical skills; sound understanding of accounting principles.
• Experience working with engineering and manufacturing personnel on development and analysis of cost standards.
• Ability to accurately prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
• Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office products.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks with a high level of difficulty.
