About the position

The Senior Cost Accountant at Flowserve is responsible for supporting the local accounting and finance structure, focusing on process and efficiency improvements, inventory accounting, and cost analysis. This role involves collaboration with various departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with corporate policies, while also participating in project review meetings and supporting the Cost Accounting Supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Focus on Process and Efficiency improvement, identifying and escalating issues and bottlenecks.
  • Inventory accounting initiatives to reduce No Demand and OSMI.
  • Inventory reconciliation, working with operations to ensure inventory job issues are completed.
  • Analyze and evaluate cost in ERP with Project Management.
  • Research, troubleshoot, and answer basic to complex questions.
  • Support the Cost Accounting Supervisor and Finance Business Partners in the calculation of standards and analyze impacts on product cost.
  • Explore and analyze root causes of cost-related business operations issues and propose policy or process changes.
  • Participate in Project Review Meetings to identify information for Revenue accounting records and calculations.
  • Review Lower of Cost or Market (LCM) on projects and ensure compliance with Loss Contracts policies.
  • Perform contract analysis for all in-scope contracts and manage RCS system for reporting.
  • Provide actual information for Costs and Margins forecasting.
  • Analyze account balances and activity to increase accuracy of accounting records.
  • Work cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Planning, Project Management, and Engineering.
  • Support plant and company-wide initiatives related to efficiency KPIs and rework.
  • Conduct sales and margin analysis and reconcile month-end bookings.
  • Balance sheet reconciliations and comply with Corporate Policies.
  • Assist with documentation and ad hoc reporting related to audits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and Finance
  • Five or more years of relevant Cost Accounting experience (Industrial Manufacturing preferred)
  • Strong Excel skills (e.g., Pivot Tables, Macros, Vlookups)
  • Knowledge of US GAAP required (especially ASC606, ASC842)

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of SAP, Baan and BPC
  • Experience in PowerBI
  • Experience working for a multinational company
  • Experience in project-based and Quick Response Center Services
  • Strong Analytics and Problem-Solving Skills
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with stakeholders
