About the position

The Senior Cost Accountant will be responsible for performing cost accounting duties and analysis within a manufacturing environment. This role involves reviewing and analyzing financial data, preparing journal entries, and ensuring accurate financial reporting to management and internal business partners. The position requires strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Cost Accounting Duties and Analysis
  • Review and analyze the general ledger and trial balance
  • Prepare and post journal entries
  • Perform GL and balance sheet account reconciliation and analysis
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations including research of reconciling items
  • Reconcile intercompany accounts and resolve any variances
  • Track all capital expenditures, update fixed assets, and depreciation schedule
  • Prepare analytics over monthly financial results and report on variances versus prior periods to efficiently report results to upper management and internal business partners
  • Participate in improving processes through automation, analysis, and researching best practices
  • Assist with the monthly and annual close process, ensuring close deadlines are met
  • Analyze financial data and maintain working knowledge of financial statements
  • Maintain daily cash deposits and recording to the G/L
  • Act as backup to Accounting Manager for transactional accounting such as A/P
  • Reconcile online Salesforce shop to bank and investigate variances
  • Take on other accounting duties and projects as needed
  • Assist with various detailed analysis and reports for annual independent CPA audit

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Accounting or Finance (Preferred)
  • 6 years of relevant Accounting experience, including a manufacturing background in Cost Accounting
  • CA or CPA Candidate Preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with internal and external business partners
  • Self-starter who enjoys a fast-paced environment and can prioritize and multi-task
  • Team player with a strong work ethic
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities with minimal supervision and meet deadlines

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Sage or other ERP systems
  • Familiarity with Salesforce and e-commerce systems (such as Shopify)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Products including Excel
