About the position

TransUnion is seeking a Senior Counsel specializing in Information and Cyber Security to join our dynamic legal team. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our information security practices align with both domestic and international regulations. The ideal candidate will possess a Juris Doctorate (JD) degree and have 5 to 7 years of experience as an attorney, preferably within a financial, insurance, or regulatory environment. The position requires a strong understanding of information security risk assessment and management, as well as expertise in industry frameworks and standards such as CIS, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, SSAE PCI, and ISO. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing and negotiating security-related matters in TransUnion's partner and customer contracts, including Master Service Agreements, Contracts for Services, and Partnership Agreements. You will counsel TransUnion's Global Information Security Department on new and existing regulations relevant to security operations, ensuring compliance with global regulatory requirements and best practices. Collaboration is key, as you will work closely with cross-functional teams, including senior business and legal stakeholders, to provide strategic guidance on information security and cybersecurity initiatives. Additionally, you will partner with TransUnion's Insider Threat, Vulnerability Management, and Incident Response teams to address and manage threats and vulnerabilities. Your expertise will also be sought in advising stakeholders, including the General Counsel, on changes in the law, contracts, or other legal issues that may impact the company's strategic operations. This hybrid position allows for a flexible work environment, requiring in-person attendance at an assigned TU office location for a minimum of two days a week.

Responsibilities

  • Review and negotiate security related matters in TransUnion's partner and customer contracts, including Master Service Agreements, Contracts for Services, and Partnership Agreements.
  • Counsel TransUnion's Global Information Security Department on new and existing domestic and international regulations relevant to security operations.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including senior business and legal stakeholders, to provide information security and cybersecurity strategy and guidance.
  • Collaborate with TransUnion's Insider Threat, Vulnerability Management, and Incident Response teams to address, manage, and resolve threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Partner with TransUnion Global Compliance Department in connection with security audits and compliance matters.
  • Provide advice to stakeholders, including the General Counsel, regarding changes in the law, contracts, or other legal issues.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) degree with 5 to 7 years of experience as an attorney, preferably in a financial, insurance or regulatory environment.
  • Strong understanding of information security risk assessment and management.
  • Expertise in information security industry frameworks and standards such as CIS, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, SSAE PCI, and ISO.
  • Transactional practice history with a focus on information security.
  • Ability to build and foster strong relationships with peers, staff, and management of all levels.
