As Senior Counsel on the Legal Investigations Team, part of the larger Global Investigations organization, your primary responsibility will be directing some of the most significant internal investigations for the company globally. The Legal Investigations role is unique in that the primary objective is to conduct thorough, objective and independent investigations, in order to fully uncover wrongdoing. Unlike some legal roles, which may focus more on defense of the company, the Legal Investigations role is focused on truly getting to the bottom of the improper behavior at issue, or clearly identifying control or policy gaps, so that the improper behaviors may be addressed and appropriate remediation may be undertaken. By identifying wrongdoing, risk, and control or policy gaps that then are the basis of administering effective accountability and remediation plans, you will be part of a robust internal investigations program, which is critical to fostering trust and strengthening relationships with associates, vendors, investors, and customers, and supports Walmart's reputation as a good corporate citizen. In this role, you will deliver investigative excellence directing legally privileged matters, through the timely, objective, thorough and independent investigation of some of the most significant allegations of wrongdoing globally for the Company. You will collaborate with clients to develop mitigation strategies and work with officer-level clients on significant risks, seeking authority and obtaining informed consent to proceed with legal matters while reviewing legal documents, notices, and announcements. You will also represent the company before courts of law, legislative bodies, governmental agencies, and other tribunals. Your responsibilities will include providing legal advice to the company by offering clients an informed understanding of their legal rights, obligations, and risks to allow them to make informed decisions. You will counsel clients regarding legal compliance and costs of business initiatives, identifying the need for and directing training, and reviewing legislative trends and significant legal decisions. Additionally, you will lead high-level cross-functional special projects, identify global trends and significant financial integrity matters for presentation and discussion with Global Governance partners and other senior leadership in the business, such as the Controller's office, Finance, and Audit. You will also work with business partners and relevant stakeholders on updates or revisions to company policies and procedures, focusing on management of budgets and driving cost control.
