About the position

The Senior Counsel for Marketing, Media, Tech & Privacy at LPGA is responsible for managing a diverse range of contracts related to marketing and technology initiatives. This role also involves developing and overseeing the organization's privacy program, ensuring compliance with various laws and regulations. The position is hybrid, based at the LPGA Headquarters in Central Florida, and requires a strong legal background in marketing, technology, and privacy law.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the marketing team to develop and maintain an international marketing compliance program, including implementing internal marketing standards.
  • Assess and provide strategic legal solutions for intellectual property rights clearance, rights of publicity, trademark, copyright, and user-generated content.
  • Negotiate, draft, and interpret technology agreements such as cloud-based platforms, SaaS agreements, and contracts for website/mobile app development.
  • Design, implement, and manage a comprehensive privacy and data governance program covering data mapping, classification, handling, data subject requests, security incident response, and vendor due diligence.

Requirements

  • J.D. degree from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in the United States and in good standing.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience supporting global marketing teams, including reviewing advertising and promotional materials, drafting disclosures, and clearing intellectual property rights.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in negotiating and structuring technology contracts, including SAAS, ad tech, and commercial agreements.
  • Strong knowledge of state, federal, and global data privacy laws (GDPR, LGPD, CCPA, CPRA, VCDPA, CPA), consumer protection laws (FTC, FCC, CAN-SPAM, COPPA, TCPA), marketing and advertising guidelines (DAA, NAI), and cybersecurity regulations (SEC).

Nice-to-haves

  • IAPP CIPP/US and CIPP/EU Certification preferred.
  • Experience and/or certifications with Microsoft Office, OneTrust, and Formstack preferred.
  • Experience providing legal support for television and digital media, including DTC services, linear television channels, and FAST channels on various platforms preferred.

  • Competitive salary ranging from $170,000 to $180,000 per year.
