About the position

The Senior Counselor, Government Affairs - Defense Programs role will be based in Bombardier's Washington, DC government affairs office. This position involves developing and implementing a government affairs strategy for Bombardier's defense business, working with the business development team to identify opportunities with government customers, advocating for key programs and policies with Congressional defense committees and members of Congress, and raising Bombardier's profile and visibility with government customers and among defense stakeholder groups. The role also includes working closely with industry partners in areas of strategic interest, supporting Foreign Military Sales efforts, and advising senior company leaders on defense policy and industry developments.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a government affairs strategy for Bombardier's defense business.
  • Work with the business development team to identify opportunities with government customers.
  • Advocate for key programs and policies with Congressional defense committees and members of Congress.
  • Raise Bombardier's profile and visibility with government customers and among defense stakeholder groups.
  • Work closely with industry partners in areas of strategic interest.
  • Support Foreign Military Sales efforts.
  • Advise senior company leaders on defense policy and industry developments.

Requirements

  • At least 10-15 years of experience in the defense sector.
  • Experience serving in the US military or in a civilian role in the Department of Defense.
  • Experience working on Capitol Hill for a defense committee or member office handling ISR programs.
  • Prior experience lobbying for a major defense contractor.
  • Strong understanding of ISR programs and ISR needs across the service branches.
  • Deep understanding of the defense industry and marketplace.
  • Strong communications and presentation skills.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and collaborative attitude.
  • Hold or be eligible for a Top-Secret level clearance.
