About the position

Our Affordable Housing Team is seeking a Senior Credit Analyst to assist in analyzing, structuring, underwriting, and coordinating the closing of major and complex commercial loans in compliance with the Bank's lending policies and procedures. The Senior Credit Analyst will work closely with the Relationship Manager to manage loans, ensuring that credit risks are responsibly monitored and identified. This position plays a crucial role in attaining established Bank, region, and branch goals through active participation in underwriting and closing desirable credits alongside the Relationship Manager. The Senior Credit Analyst is responsible for assuring compliance with all Bank policies and procedures, as well as all applicable state and federal banking regulations. In this role, the Senior Credit Analyst will work closely with the Portfolio Manager to perform financial statement analyses, which typically involve complex and interlocking relationships. The analyst will assist in the preparation of monthly tracking and draw requests related to the multifamily and Direct Pay Letter of Credit products. Additionally, the Senior Credit Analyst will complete annual reviews on existing multifamily and Direct Pay Letter of Credit products, which include property-level and guarantor financial analysis. The role also involves assisting underwriters and business development officers in obtaining necessary information to underwrite credit requests and preparing any reports required by the line of business. The Senior Credit Analyst will perform industry analysis and provide recommendations, informing the Chief Credit Officer and Loan Officers of relevant trends concerning specific loans, portfolios, or industries. Furthermore, the analyst will provide credit information and references for customers, loan officers, or other agencies as requested.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in analyzing, structuring, underwriting, and coordinating the closing of major and complex commercial loans.
  • Work with the Relationship Manager to manage loans and monitor credit risks.
  • Participate in underwriting and closing desirable credits with the Relationship Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with all Bank policies and procedures and applicable state and federal banking regulations.
  • Perform financial statement analyses in collaboration with the Portfolio Manager.
  • Prepare monthly tracking and draw requests related to multifamily and Direct Pay Letter of Credit products.
  • Complete annual reviews on existing multifamily and Direct Pay Letter of Credit products, including property level and guarantor financial analysis.
  • Assist underwriters and business development officers in obtaining information needed for credit requests.
  • Prepare reports required by the line of business.
  • Conduct industry analysis and provide recommendations.
  • Inform CCO/Loan Officers of relevant trends of specific loans, portfolios, or industries.
  • Provide credit information and references for customers, loan officers, or other agencies as requested.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from a 4-year college or university, preferably in Finance or Accounting.
  • 1-3 years of commercial underwriting experience at a financial institution.
  • Exceptional credit knowledge and underwriting skills in Commercial Real Estate lending.
  • Advanced experience, knowledge, and training in financial statement and tax return analysis.
  • Strong portfolio management skills for timely identification of credit concerns.
  • Outstanding presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well in a collaborative team environment.
  • Excellent ability to juggle multiple credit requests simultaneously.
  • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial attitude and a positive outlook.
