About the position

The Senior Credit Manager / Senior Staff Data Scientist at SoFi will play a crucial role in managing credit risk activities for various lending products, with an initial focus on Personal Loans. This position involves analyzing data to develop credit risk strategies and models, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and driving revenue while controlling risk. The ideal candidate will leverage their data-driven analytics background to innovate and enhance credit underwriting strategies, ensuring alignment with the company's risk appetite.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and evaluate data to develop credit risk strategies and models for lending products.
  • Independently develop and implement Personal Loan underwriting strategies that align with risk appetite.
  • Monitor and analyze risk trends within the portfolio to provide insights and recommendations for strategy enhancements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Business Units, Operations, Marketing, Finance, and Compliance to achieve business results.
  • Drive performance outcomes by understanding credit risk and developing approaches to mitigate loss while growing revenue.
  • Challenge existing processes and continuously seek improvements to build better products.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of related experience in consumer lending or credit cards.
  • Direct experience in the credit strategy analytical life cycle, including strategy development and post-implementation monitoring.
  • Proven analytical skills in conducting sophisticated analysis using customer performance data and bureau attributes.
  • Proficient in data exploration and credit modeling using Excel, SQL, and Python.
  • Ability to synthesize and communicate analysis effectively to business partners and senior management.
  • Knowledge of analytical and modeling techniques such as decision trees and regression.

Nice-to-haves

  • 7+ years of personal loan credit risk experience.
  • Experience in developing credit strategies using innovative data sources such as cash flow or alternative data.
  • Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or Computer Science.

  • Competitive base pay range of $172,800.00 - $297,000.00 based on experience and location.
