About the position

The Senior Custodian is responsible for maintaining clean, safe, and attractive facilities for county staff and the public. This role involves performing various custodial tasks, ensuring the security of facilities, and responding to emergency situations. The position requires the use of cleaning equipment and chemicals, as well as routine maintenance of custodial tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Uses electrical cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners and shampoo machines.
• Uses chemicals and cleaners safely and according to instructions.
• Ensures facilities are available and secured according to schedule.
• Performs custodial tasks including mopping, stripping, waxing, and buffing floors.
• Responds to emergency situations such as spills and broken windows.
• Moves furniture and other equipment as necessary.
• Cleans equipment and tools after use and maintains cleanliness in storage areas.
• Monitors supplies and materials inventory and orders supplies as needed.
• Performs non-cleaning tasks in general facility maintenance.
• Assists with training of custodial staff as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Six months of experience performing custodial tasks, preferably in a commercial environment.
• Valid driver license required.
• Ability to operate a variety of hand-held and electrical equipment and tools.

• Experience in a commercial or similar custodial environment.
