About the position

The Senior Custodian is responsible for maintaining clean, safe, and attractive facilities for county staff and the public. This role involves using various cleaning equipment and chemicals, ensuring the security of facilities, and performing custodial tasks to create a comfortable environment for business and recreation.

Responsibilities

• Uses electrical cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners and shampoo machines.
• Uses chemicals and cleaners safely and according to instructions.
• Ensures facilities are available and secured according to schedule.
• Performs custodial tasks including emptying waste receptacles, mopping, and sanitizing restrooms.
• Responds to emergency situations such as spills and broken windows.
• Moves furniture and equipment as necessary.
• Cleans equipment and tools after use and maintains cleanliness in storage areas.
• Monitors supplies and materials inventory and orders as needed.
• Performs non-cleaning tasks in general facility maintenance.
• Assists with training of custodial staff as needed.

Requirements

• Experience in custodial or facility maintenance work.
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Ability to follow safety procedures and instructions.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in training or supervising staff.
• Familiarity with emergency response procedures.
