About the position

The Senior Custodian is responsible for maintaining clean, safe, and attractive facilities for county staff and the public. This role involves performing various custodial tasks, ensuring the security of facilities, and responding to emergency situations. The position requires the use of cleaning equipment and chemicals, as well as routine maintenance of custodial tools and supplies.

Responsibilities

• Use electrical cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners and shampoo machines.
• Safely use chemicals and cleaners according to instructions.
• Ensure facilities are secured according to schedule, including locking doors and turning off electrical units.
• Perform custodial tasks including mopping, stripping, waxing, and buffing floors, washing windows, and sanitizing restrooms.
• Respond to emergency situations such as spills and broken windows.
• Move furniture and equipment as necessary.
• Clean and maintain custodial equipment and tools, reporting malfunctions to the supervisor.
• Monitor and order supplies and materials as needed.
• Perform general facility maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs and filling dispensers.
• Assist in training custodial staff as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Six months of experience performing custodial tasks, preferably in a commercial environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid driver license.
