About the position

Under direct supervision, supervises and participates in the cleaning and minor maintenance of buildings and facilities, and performs related duties as required. This position involves performing as lead custodian and personally assisting in the custodial care of buildings and facilities, reviewing work to ensure follow through. The role includes floor maintenance, office maintenance, custodial care of restrooms, activity rooms, community rooms, and other related facilities. The custodian will maintain and care for assigned equipment and vehicles, assist in training subordinates, and delegate custodial assignments. Observing and enforcing safety regulations is crucial, ensuring that proper protective gear and equipment is used. The custodian will keep simple records and prepare reports of work, as well as deal with the public and respond to requests or complaints.

Responsibilities

  • Perform as lead custodian and assist in custodial care of buildings and facilities.

Requirements

  • Completion of formal education sufficient to assure the ability to read and write at the level required for successful job performance.
  • One (1) year of full-time paid experience performing custodial work.
  • Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of basic methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in custodial work.
  • Knowledge of provisions of the California Vehicle Code applying to the operation of vehicles.
  • Knowledge of safety and safe work practices related to custodial work.
  • Knowledge of protective wear and equipment used in performing custodial work involving harsh or toxic substances.
