About the position

The Senior Cyber Privacy Governance Analyst position at Sentara Health is a critical role focused on the implementation and administration of cyber privacy initiatives. This position is designed for a passionate cyber security professional who will serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in information privacy. The analyst will be responsible for identifying emerging privacy technology trends, regulatory compliance requirements, and the privacy needs of the organization. This role aims to develop, establish, and maintain a cohesive privacy direction for Sentara Health, ensuring that the organization meets privacy requirements and government regulations for the protection of personal and sensitive information. Under the direction of the Senior Manager of Cyber & Privacy Governance, the Senior Analyst will assess privacy policies, procedures, and operations to identify potential weaknesses and vulnerabilities. They will recommend privacy controls to mitigate these vulnerabilities and reduce overall privacy risks. The analyst will also serve as a consultant to top management, impacting privacy policy and planning activities. A significant part of the role involves coordinating activities and meetings with departmental staff, preparing privacy training materials, and delivering presentations as part of the Cyber Security Training & Awareness Enterprise Program. The Senior Cyber Privacy Governance Analyst will analyze and develop policies and procedures related to information privacy for Sentara Health and its stakeholders, including regulators, health plans, and health providers. The incumbent will provide input to strategic decisions affecting the functional area of responsibility in both Cyber Security and the Chief Privacy Office. This role requires a proactive approach to managing enterprise-wide initiatives and ensuring compliance with privacy policies and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Support and lead the implementation and administration of cyber privacy initiatives.
  • Identify emerging privacy technology trends and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Assess privacy policies, procedures, and operations to ensure compliance with privacy requirements.
  • Serve as a consultant to top management on privacy policy and planning activities.
  • Coordinate activities and meetings with departmental staff regarding privacy initiatives.
  • Prepare privacy training materials and presentations for the Cyber Security Training & Awareness Enterprise Program.
  • Analyze and develop policies and procedures related to information privacy for Sentara Health and its stakeholders.
  • Provide input to strategic decisions affecting Cyber Security and the Chief Privacy Office.
  • Conduct privacy impact assessments and recommend solutions for privacy protection.
  • Monitor compliance with privacy policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Communications, Computer Science, Information Systems, Network Engineering, Information Privacy, Privacy Law, or a closely related field.
  • Five (5) years of professional experience in privacy, legal, technology, compliance, or information security fields, with two (2) years in the healthcare industry.
  • CIPT Certification or other privacy certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPM, ISEB, ECPC-BDPO.
  • Experience translating regulatory requirements (GDPR, CCPA/CPRA) into actionable technical specifications.
  • Knowledge of Privacy by Design and security standards.
  • Experience with cloud computing and infrastructure, preferably Azure.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of privacy risk concepts and principles.
  • Experience with privacy impact assessment (PIA) methodology.
  • Familiarity with information privacy or security forensic tools.
  • Understanding of current privacy technologies for data mapping.
