About the position

The Senior Cyber Security Analyst, Data Security at Kennesaw State University is responsible for implementing and maintaining security measures to protect the university's information infrastructure. This role involves timely detection and response to potential cyber threats, ensuring compliance with security protocols, and collaborating with stakeholders to address security incidents. The analyst will work with various security tools and systems to safeguard campus systems and data.

Responsibilities

• Distinguishes possible attacks from benign activities within the enterprise
• Collaborates with stakeholders to resolve computer security incidents and vulnerability compliance
• Receives and analyzes network alerts and determines possible causes for the alerts
• Documents and escalates incidents that may cause ongoing and immediate impact to the environment
• Provides daily summary reports of network events and activity relevant to cyber defense practices
• Identifies and analyzes anomalies in network traffic using metadata
• Identifies network mapping and operating system (OS) fingerprinting activities
• Monitors external data sources of cyber defense threat conditions and determines which security issues may impact the enterprise
• Validates intrusion detection system (IDS) alerts against network traffic

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field
• IT Security Certification
• Four (4) years IT security experience

Nice-to-haves

• Application security assessment experience
• Experience with an enterprise log management system or SIEM (i.e., Splunk, Elastic, AlienVault, etc.)
• Microsoft Azure administration experience
• Experience in the implementation of processes and procedures for cybersecurity reporting and metrics activities
