About the position

Axient is seeking a Senior Cybersecurity Analyst to join our team at the Washington Navy Yard. This position requires a Secret clearance and involves working onsite for 3-4 days per week. The primary responsibility of the Senior Cybersecurity Analyst is to guide platform information technology systems through the full life cycle of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process to achieve or renew Authority to Operate (ATO). This role is critical in ensuring that cybersecurity measures are effectively implemented and maintained throughout the lifecycle of IT systems. The Senior Cybersecurity Analyst will conduct RMF package reviews and assist with package development as needed. This includes meeting and collaborating with Program Offices to resolve any issues that arise during the package review process. The analyst will act as an early adapter of RMF changes, providing support to programs with new processes, tools, and requirements. Additionally, the analyst will provide NQV support for the "IWS D Validator Pool," validating packages for any IWS code that is short a validator. This role also encompasses supporting Security Assessment Plans (SAPs), RMF Step 5 Approval, Assess Only Approval, and conducting Annual Security Reviews. Moreover, the Senior Cybersecurity Analyst will aid in the development of training materials for the IWS community and will be responsible for training other IWS D staff. The position requires a strong understanding of cybersecurity compliance and the ability to evaluate systems against current RMF and DoD Cybersecurity policies. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity Management or a related technical field, along with relevant certifications and experience in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct RMF package reviews and assist with package development as needed.
  • Meet and work with Program Offices to resolve package review issues.
  • Act as an early adapter of RMF changes and assist programs with new processes, tools, and requirements.
  • Provide NQV support for the 'IWS D Validator Pool'.
  • Validate packages for any IWS code that is short a validator.
  • Support SAP's, RMF Step 5 Approval, Assess Only Approval, and Annual Security Reviews.
  • Aid in the development of training materials for the IWS community.
  • Train other IWS D staff.
  • Review RMF packages for the Trusted Package Submitting Office (TPSO).

Requirements

  • 5+ years of direct cybersecurity work experience.
  • Experience evaluating the cyber compliance of a system against current RMF and DoD Cybersecurity policies.
  • Knowledge of NIST SP 800-53, DoDI 8500.01, and DoDI 8510.01.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Cybersecurity Management or equivalent technical degree.
  • DoD 8140 (IAT Level II/IAM Level I) certification required.
  • Navy Qualified Validator certification is desired.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency with the Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS) & eMASSter tools.
  • Familiarity with Navy combat systems such as SSDS and AEGIS.
