About the position

The Senior Cybersecurity Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing automation solutions to enhance security operations within CareFirst's cybersecurity team. This role focuses on streamlining incident response, vulnerability management, threat intelligence integration, and cloud security initiatives, leveraging automation tools and Python scripting to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of security processes.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day support of security solutions.
• Provide engineering support and system administration of specialized cybersecurity solutions.
• Solve complex problems and answer routine questions about the installation, operation, configuration, and customization of cybersecurity software.
• Identify potential conflicts with the implementation of cybersecurity solutions.
• Review and analyze cybersecurity solution system logs for performance and functional anomalies.
• Collaborate with system design architects and project managers to provide security requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or 4 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.
• CISSP, CISM, CEH, or CISA certification required upon hire.
• 4 years of related experience or cybersecurity certification and 3 years of related experience.
• Proficiency in Python for security automation, including writing scripts for threat detection and incident response.
• Experience with SIEM platforms, endpoint detection and response (EDR), and vulnerability management tools.

Nice-to-haves

• Hands-on experience with automation frameworks like Ansible, Terraform, or SaltStack.
• Experience with Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response (SOAR) platforms.
• Familiarity with data visualization using Python libraries like Matplotlib or Plotly.
