About the position

The Senior Cybersecurity Specialist at Astrion plays a critical role in supporting the space communications lifecycle sustainment mission. This position involves ensuring the security and compliance of information systems, managing risk assessments, and developing security management plans. The specialist will work closely with various stakeholders to promote security awareness and implement robust cybersecurity policies and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Author, monitor, and record system information in RMF Knowledge Service (KS).
  • Prepare and record system, security status, and portfolio management information into the Enterprise Information Technology Data Repository (EITDR) for compliance with FISMA and other statutory requirements.
  • Author, review, certify, and maintain information awareness and security management plans.
  • Coordinate Trusted Systems and Networks (TSN) and Supply Chain Risk Management (SCRM) evaluations throughout the program life cycle.
  • Review and evaluate Contractor classified data submissions for compliance with Security Classification Guides.
  • Standardize and execute quality control for program protection plans and cybersecurity strategies.
  • Support authorization and accreditation (A&A) efforts, assessing the quality and completeness of A&A activities.
  • Recommend policies and procedures to ensure the reliability and accessibility of information systems.
  • Conduct risk and vulnerability assessments to identify vulnerabilities and protection needs.
  • Promote awareness of security issues among management and ensure sound security principles are reflected in the organization's vision.
  • Conduct system security evaluations, audits, and reviews.
  • Recommend systems security contingency plans and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Implement programs to ensure users adhere to system security policies and procedures.
  • Participate in network and systems design to ensure appropriate security policies are implemented.
  • Facilitate the gathering, analysis, and preservation of evidence for computer crime prosecution.
  • Assess security events to determine impact and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure rigorous application of information security/cybersecurity policies in IT service delivery.
  • Perform Information System Security Engineer (ISSE) duties as outlined in relevant AFI documents.
  • Perform Information System Security Manager (ISSM) duties as outlined in DoDI 8510.01.
  • Perform Information System Security Officer (ISSO) duties as outlined in DoDI 8510.01.

Requirements

  • Masters degree and 12 years of directly related experience, with 5 years in DoD; or 15 years of directly related experience in lieu of a master's degree, with 5 years in DoD; or 20 years' experience in lieu of degree.
  • Top secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • DoD IAT/IAM level III certification.
